Committee on Community Outreach

Current Projects

For our current project, we are partnering with the Vassar Refugee Solidarity to tutor high school aged refugees in Albany, NY for tests such as the Regents exams, ACT, and SAT. Utilizing the skill set of volunteer students at Vassar, we hope to help even the playing field for these students, many of whom do not have the same background in test preparation that many students who grew up in the American school system have had.

Our goal is to use Vassar resources and students to reach out to the students of the Poughkeepsie area, specifically by providing opportunities in STEM fields that are not available to them through their schools.

Future Projects

We hope to create a science and math monthly workshop for students of the local Poughkeepsie area. The current idea is for each workshop to focus on a different field STEM, exposing the students to wide variety of subjects.
